From the Last Supper to the Resurrection


WEDNESDAY

  • Passover begins at sundown
  • Last Supper
  • Prayer at Gethsemane
  • Arrest
  • Trials through the night

THURSDAY

  • Still Passover until Sundown
  • Trials continue until morning
  • 9:00 a.m. – Crucifixion
  • 12 p.m. – Darkness
  • 3 p.m. – It is finished
  • in the grave before sundown because of Sabbath
  • Sundown – Sabbath

(first day of Feast of Unleavened Bread is always the day after Passover and a Sabbath)

FRIDAY

  • Still a Sabbath in celebration of the Feast of Unleavened Bread
  • Saturday Sabbath begins at sundown

SATURDAY

  • Sabbath

SUNDAY

  • First Day of the Week
  • Jesus Rose from the grave on the Feast of First Fruits
SCRIPTURES
  • Mark 10:33,34 - three days later
  • Luke 18:31-33 - the third day
  • Matthew 12:40 - Three days and three nights
  • Luke 24:1 - On the first day of the week
  • Luke 24:21 - third day
  • Luke 24:46 - rise again from the dead on the third day
CONCLUSION
  • Jesus fulfilled Passover ON Passover
  • Jesus dealt with sin ON the Feast of Unleavened Bread
  • Jesus became our first fruits of resurrection ON the Feast of First Fruits (promise of resurrection in the future - the coming harvest)
  • The Church started with the coming of the Holy Spirit ON Pentecost - the promised harvest from First Fruits
  • It was a double Sabbath week
