"A sitting silently at the feet of Jesus
IS...OF...MORE...WORTH
than all the clatter of Mary's dishes."
Charles Spurgeon
(emphasis added)
I read this quote on Twitter this past week and yes, I know my picture above is not of Mary sitting at Jesus feet, but rather the Samaritan woman at the well. But there are more pictures in scripture of sitting at Jesus' feet than just Mary. There's this one above, and the one where the prostitute washes Jesus' feet with her tears and hair, and the one where the disciples find Him sitting on the Mt. of Olives and they ask Him about the end of the world, and the one where the 5,000 men and their families were fed, and the one where the townsfolk found the possessed man dressed and in his right mind sitting at Jesus' feet, to name a few.
Sitting at Jesus' feet is a preferred position, don't you think?
Because there you get to hear His voice. You get to see His expressions as He talks. You get to make eye contact. You get to rest in His presence.
When we sit at Jesus' feet in eternity, those same nail prints that Thomas insisted on seeing are going to be visible to us...a constant reminder of His love. Do we forget this life in eternity? I doubt it, because then we wouldn't understand why He has those scars on His hands and feet, right?
But I am getting off the subject. I just want to ask you a quick question and then I'm out of here:
Have you sat at the feet of Jesus today?
Good question, very good question!!!!
