Weekend Wish
"But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men." Titus 3:4-7

Having Psalm 18 fresh in my mind, this caused me to immediately think of what David wrote in verse 25 - "With the kind You show Yourself kind..." It's God's way to carry with men as to how they carry, but we could never show true kindness, kindness not based on one's worth, kindness that loves the unlovely, without God's kindness and mercy to our very unlovely souls first! He showed kindness to us not based on our worth, so we could show kindness to others based on His worth. What a truly amazing God!
ReplyDeleteThs has been such an awesome chunk of verses for me. To have it stated so clearly that we cannot "earn" our salvation,but it is mearly though His grace alone that we ar justified. And it's the grace that is shown to us that should make us want to serve for Him. How humbling is it that? (Rom. 3:24)
